The Airbus A220-100 is a medium-haul airliner originally designed by Bombardier as the CSeries CS100, then renamed A220-100 after Airbus took a majority stake in 2018. Designed for the single-aisle market with approximately 100 to 120 seats, it stands out for its energy and environmental efficiency thanks to the use of innovative lightweight materials (a combination of aluminium-lithium and composites) and its high-tech Pratt & Whitney PW1500G engines. These features enable the aircraft to reduce emissions and fuel consumption, while offering a range of around 6,390 kilometres, giving it great operational flexibility, particularly for serving remote or short-runway airports.
The A220-100 features a modern Airspace cabin design that offers superior passenger comfort, including a wide aisle, wider seats in economy class, large windows providing more natural light, and customisable LED lighting to reduce fatigue. The cabin, which is 3.28 metres wide and 23.7 metres long, is designed to optimise the user experience while facilitating boarding and disembarking. This aircraft is appreciated for its balance between economic efficiency, environmental performance and passenger comfort, making it a benchmark choice in the medium-haul regional aircraft segment.
